I.P.M.S. Roscoe Turner Chapter
January 2018 Newsletter

The Christmas holidays are over. Hopefully, you've had a safe and happy holiday and are rested and ready to meet what's in store for 2018! I apologize for the delay in sending out the newsletter.

December Meeting Recap:

For December, the club had its annual Christmas pizza party at the Life Church Family Center. As usual, a good time was had by all. A special thanks to Erik Fox for getting the drinks and ice.

Old Business

Andy Leffler still has ten of the new club shirts for sale. The club is kindly subsidizing the cost of the shirts, so one of these beautiful shirts will only cost you $10. We have a few L, XL and 2XL sizes remaining.
Ken Kindler has the latest on table rentals for the contest. Best Party Rentals still has the best price for tables. Currently, the rental for the tables we need totals approximately $2100, and we can make adjustments on the tables needed right up to the day before.

New Business

We will start off 2018 with our traditional White Elephant Gift Exchange. This will be held at the MCL Cafeteria at 5520 Castleton Corner Ln, Indianapolis, IN 46250, on Friday, January 19, from 7-9pm. Bring a wrapped kit to participate. The rules are below:

We're due for our chapter renewal, and all present voted to renew. Ken Kindler will reach out to IPMS in order to get us reupped.

In another annual club tradition, the club also voted to make a donation of $250 to Toys for Tots.

We had some minor discussion regarding our 2018 contest:

We will have a judging seminar for February's meeting. Please bring a built model over for judging practice.

For the coming year, we'd like to try doing some presentations as our current meeting location has the facilities to do so. Please let me know if you'd like to set up a presentation, and what month would work for you. I will see if I can slot you in.

Big Boy Hobbies was robbed on December 26. Fortunately, Herb was not hurt. Please stop by the store sometime to say hi and maybe support his store. BBH is one of only of handful of old-school small hobby stores left.

In Memoriam:

We are saddened to announce that Chris Etzel, of Etzel's Speed Classics, well known for highly accurate resin and white metal Indy 500 models, passed away on December 13, 2017. Please keep Chris and his wife, Vicki, in your thoughts and prayers. You can leave your condolences here:

Show and Tell:

Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted the images of the Show and Tell. If you brought a model and have pictures of it, please send them to me and I will include it in the next newsletter.
